Road Rage Award: Sylvania 300

Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne & Robby Gordon

Kurt Busch up in smoke & talking to the #10 crew chief

It only took 3 laps to find our ‘Road Rage Award’ winner for Sunday’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Great, I think. Now, let’s see what other stories this race has going for it.

Then lap 165 rolls around, and delivers another road rage incident. Hmm, ok we’ll go with 2 winners.

Lap 191. The best road rage incident since the 2002 Sharpie 500 at Bristol when Ward Burton heaved his heat shields at Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Where are we at? Bristol?

I don’t remember the tempers flaring so bad in the past like they did today in New Hampshire. Things got so bad, by the lap 191 caution, NASCAR told all the drivers that “the red trailer is full, everyone better behave or else.”

One at a time

Lap 3: Kurt Busch gets spun into the wall by a tight Scott Riggs in the #10. Kurt takes it way too personally. He jumps out of his smoking racecar and strides to the #10 pit box. The look on crew chief Rodney Childers face as Kurt climbs the box is priceless. Stone faced behind dark shades, he looks as if Kurt is asking about the weather.

Kurt does settle down and regain his positive self-talk, but not before blurting out, “The #10 car, we’ve had issues in the past and this isn’t the place to repay somebody.” Actually Kurt, considering your place in the Chase, it would be a great place to repay you. Although, that’s not what happened here. So whadya say Kurt, that you get over it and stop being such a moron.

Kasey Kahne slams Kyle Busch and then talks about it

Lap 165: Kasey Kahne. Same song, second verse. Kyle Busch and Kahne get together, sending Kasey into the wall. Hard. His car is way outta whack. Right rear wheel doesn’t even touch the ground. During the caution wind-down Kahne does a Dale Jarrett right into the front of Kyle Busch.

Kid doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut either. Reminds me of my teenagers when they are at their most selfish it’s-everybody-elses-fault how-dare-you-do-that-to-me behavior.

Kahne said, “We just got taken out. There’s times when things happen and you end up crashing because of other cars, but right there we just got taken out.”

“If people are gonna run you over for no reason and think their gonna get away with it, then you just go out there and ruin their day too.”

Kasey your young, so I’ll cut you some slack. But, racin’ is rubbin’ man. Everyone was sliding up the track. Go to a Tupperware party with Kurt Busch, wave to Kyle as you pull out of the drive, and don’t take it so personally man. So it’s your 7th DNF of the season.

Robby Gordon's new sub-compact and throwing his helmet at Michael Waltrip

Lap 191: Robby Gordon. Ok, so anyone who’s watched Robby race, knows he can drive a little reckless at times. All I know, is there was already a caution out and Robby ended up looking worse than Mike Bliss (who the flag was thrown for.)

Michael Waltrip claims he was “holding his ground” when Robby came up into him causing Mikey to wreck him.

Robby climbs out of his car in the middle of the track and does the I’m-waiting-for-you-to-come-back-around linger. He decides that his $800 helmet might make a good missle and rocket launches it in to Michael’s car. I think he was going for the net, but got the door instead.

I’ve written another post about it with some great pictures.

The whole episode is gonna cost Robby alot. His car. His helmet. And, probably about $10,000.00 for saying that Michael is “a piece of $#it” during his post wreck interview.

Robby, I’ve said it before, stop being such a moron.
