Darren, Darren, Darren. I came here to see if you changed your ways after Jimmie's third straight championship. But, alas, you still hate Jimmie. Come ON! What is there to hate? I once again get to see Jimmie and the #48 team sitting at the main table at the Woldorf=Astoria, so I'm happy. And next year, if he can make it through Talladega (which has been moved to a late chase date), he'll be there again in 2009!

I'd say that Kyle Busch gets the "Turkey Award".

He was strutting around all fat and happy but ended up on the platter getting stuffed, sliced and eaten.

Not saying he deserved the "Turkey Award", but that is just how it happened.

The first full season riding around in the COT gave us some truly awesome short-track racing, typical restrictor plate racing, and absolutely terrible intermediate track aero-push garbage. I would have loved to see some more/different people in victory lane in 2008; a first-time winner perhaps (David Ragan in 2009 anyone?). 3 dudes winning 66% of the races doesn't exactly promote excitement.

One of my favorite moments, believe it or not, was the 14 or so heat races NASCAR held at Indianapolis instead of one 160 lap race. At least it was different. I was actually hoping Goodyear was going to run out of tires. It's kind of fun to see turmoil on that scale.

2008 gave us a two-day race at California, a strange fuel milage win for Junior at Michigan (Did he pass the pace car?), Michael Waltrip stole a second place finish at rain soaked Loudon and Jimmie Johnson once again dominated in the Chase. To celebrate the 3-peat of the #48, Axl Rose released the long-awaited Chinese Democracy.

Look, it comes down to you either like the sport or you don't. I don't think this year gained many new fans, but it gave old fans new things to cheer for or complain about and another reason to look forward to Sunday. (I happen to like the Saturday night Cup races better.)

Overall the 2008 season was just fine and I'll be there for '09

What wasn't there to like about the season? It started out with an exciting Penske 1,2 finish. Then we got to see Carl win out west. The season then took on a Kyle Busch look which fortunately ended just before the season really started. The championship duel would of been perhaps the greatest in recent Nascar history if only Edwards car could of started up at Lowes.

I'll rate it a 8.
