Jeff Gordon Hosts Live with Regis and Kelly
January 18th, 2008 by Darren (NASCAR Geek)
I think it’s safe to assume Rick Hendrick won’t take his cues from Theresa Earnhardt in regards to Jeff Gordon’s host fill-in stint on today’s “Live with Regis and Kelly”.
So, there is no breaking news of Rick Hendrick saying, “Right now the ball’s in his court to decide on whether he wants to be a NASCAR driver or whether he wants to be a public personality.” Nope, that zinger still belongs to (cough) car owner (cough) Theresa.
I honestly haven’t watched the show all the way through. (And I’d never admit it if I did.) But I did see that the Gordon fans were out in his support. And Jeff got to show off some baby pictures of Ella.
I’ve got to hand it to Jeff, the 4-time NASCAR Cup Series Champ is very comfortable in front of the camera. Maybe once Jimmie reaches the 4-time mark he will have a personality too.
Although, I noted they must have raised the bass way up in Gordon’s mic, the nasally Jeff drone wasn’t as noticeable.
Did anyone have their DVR’s and TiVo’s set to record this? I didn’t even know it was coming and caught it on chance.

Jeff’s okay (obviously not my favorite driver) but that voice does get annoying. It’s funny though, when he’s not doing an interview regarding racing, it’s not as bad as it normally is. That baby is beautiful!! Wonder if Jeff bought a shotgun yet??

Yeah..the baby was pretty doggone cute. I was gonna post a pic, but they didn’t come out to great and then I also had to deal with the whole ‘leave the baby’s pictures off the internet’ conscience thing.
Maybe it’s his adrenaline that hypes up the nasal sound. Or, maybe he’s got allergies to the fuel

Nice objective reporting there D-man. Picking on a man for the tone of his voice. Lord knows what you think of Buddy Baker!
Sorry, but my Tivo has a special filter on it to prohibit the recording of reality TV, talk shows, soap operas, or anything that begins with Boogity. It’s the “old school” filter.
It could be that the thought of all that cash being stuffed into his bank account from being a four-time champion causes an elevated excitement level and the nasal sound?

I can’t help myself, I love to watch Jeff Gordon - I have since he was 14 years old. Personalities are more fun when they are real and not “handled”. There are so many celebrities that have the worst voices - like Callie on CSI Miami) but (guilty pleasure) I watch anyway. She’s a horrible actress but I love her anyway. Jeff gets better every year. He is the face of NASCAR - like it or not. Just like Jeff Hammond is, DW is, Buddy Baker, Richard and Kyle Petty. Dale Sr. Dale Junior (who will come into his own) Benny Parsons was - you know the guys). I don’t know of a driver who could pull an entire show off, like JG.

Buddy Baker?!?!?! Oh dear Lord, if there’s one man in the booth that drives me nuts having to listen to him it would be Buddy Baker.
BTW Lou, make sure the “old school” filter doesn’t ignore the Old School Racing series when/if it airs.

I was impressed to see Jeff Gordon hold his own while paired with Kelly Ripa. She has such a big personality that anyone not on the top of their game will fade into the background.
