Kasey Kahne is an Idiot

October 30th, 2005 by Darren (NASCAR Geek)

Kasey Kahne nose-to-nose with Reed Sorenson

Summary

Kasey Kahne gets caught up in Reed Sorenson’s spin into the wall. Sorenson spins clockwise, ending with his driver side against the wall and nose-to-nose with Kahne.

Several seconds after the dust should be settling, Kahne still is pushing Sorenson backwards along the wall. Finally, he punts him out of his way and drives on.

My Take:

Sorry ladies (my wife and daughters included.) I hate to break it to you, but Kasey Kahne a.k.a. ‘The Real Deal’ can also be ‘The Real Dummy’.

Kasey Kahne’s true colors are showing this year. Remember his road rage at New Hampshire? He’s a young punk.

Okay. I agree that maybe I’m a little over-the-top on this one. But, age and experience certainly is an advantage on the track in more ways than one. The ability to hold his temper ‘in-check’ is something Kahne must ’still be working on’. Many more incidents like today though, and he’ll need to call Tony Stewart about ‘that guy that helped you with your anger issues’.

What really surprised me during the incident was that no one commented on it. Clearly, Kahne kept the accelerator down long after he and Sorenson were nose-to-nose and able to stop. Right?

I like Kasey. His year is lackluster from what he (and we) had hoped. Today he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but c’mon Kasey, quit smacking the other young pups around.

I wonder if Reed could read Kasey’s lips as he pushed him along the wall?

Were there any inappropriate gestures?

Or, was the backwards push for several hundred feet statement enough?

Yep he sure is. What he did was uncalled for.

  2. Administrator Says:

If Reed is long-lasting and successful in Cup, this could be his ‘Welcome to Nascar’ moment for a ‘10 questions with…’ article.

ok a couple of things here in post season fashion, uncalled for yes, Kasey Kahne hater no, Fan? no, i don’t like him, but i have pulled for him on a few races, and i have shunned him as well. I say uncalled for, but i also say this is attributed to a far bigger issue and that is rookie driver ages. Kahne is the beginning of a wave or brighter, fresher, younger blood and it is hotter, thinner and more emotional. The cars, crew chiefs and technology may be relatively the same, however the spirit of the youth, and the nature of the beast beats a different drum. Watch as this 2006 season unfolds a new NASCAR not only with changes that mask this new growing sport that is morphing in X-Men fashion, but also watch as the dying values of Tony Stewart and Mark Martin and retired legends of Rusty Wallace and *cough choke wheeze* Darryl Waltrip sing the songs that will long be known as the chant of the past to the ghosts of the great. Because you will see reckless regard, mixed with stirred and stewed pang come from these drivers, behind the smiles of the good guys, will be the iron fists clenched around the steel of thier craft fighting for thier mark , and they will make thier mark… just what kind of a “mark” will it be? ok so off the soap box for me, and final note, the “welcome to nascar, might have been more meaning full better administered from someone of rank perhaps like a veteran maybe? not a rookie himself? If he is going to be so bold, then be original i say but give him props for being the oh f&*k it and do it anyway kid , he has b@lls that’s for sure!

Racing odds are incredibly complicated to predict these days, but we do try our best. I have to say I'm fairly confident in taking my fantasy picks on the melbourne cup 2008. My past records are enough to convince me that I could succeed with a caulfield cup bet, and I encourage all those that think they can hack it to give it a try if they can.
